About

Moving between continents, countries, and homes has shaped Priya into the person she is today – an urban, global citizen, who has always been stimulated by the transitory nature of life. Her paintings capture the quality of transient moments where seemingly ordinary events, spaces, and objects come alive with the play of light, evoking a particular sense of place, time, and mood. Employing a realistic style, she explores the fleeting nature of light and its dynamic relationship with form and space.

Priya’s subjects are varied – landscape, cityscapes, still life, and interiors – each drawn from observations of everyday life, time with friends or her travels. She creates using traditional methods of painting in oil and gouache. More recently she has started experimenting with mixed media using ink, acrylic, and pastels. Priya alternates between plein air sketches to quickly capture changing light as well as carefully composed studio works, always striving to apply what she learns from each piece to the next. Her work has been exhibited in several group shows and is held by collectors in US and India.
